Many people have linked running with bone problems. They say that running is bad for bones health and can do much more damage to the body than the good it brings. Well, I don't think so, and this couldn't be further from the truth.

What really causes running injuries?

I do agree that running can cause lots of injuries as you may know already. However, most of those injuries are predictable and preventable; they are usually caused by trying to do too much too soon at too quick pace ignoring the body warming signals.

If you have bad running form, or have been running in wrong shoes, don't be surprised if injury comes knocking on your doors. Just don't blame running for it. If you run the right way and eliminate bad running habits, you will run injury-free.

Running hazards and scientific evidences

Not only that, many studies that have been done recently and found no evidence of accelerated rates of osteoarthritis among long distance runners when compared to healthy non-runners. In fact most experts agree that running can help you against arthritis, and other bones and joints problems.

In a recent study done by the American Running & Fitness Association, the researchers concluded that running actually promotes higher bone density. This is due to the stress that running puts on our body, causing it to adapt itself in order to withstand the high impact activity, thus encouraging higher bone density. They also concluded runners get stronger bones along with a plethora of other benefits.

Just look at your physiology!

In fact, if you looked at our physiology, you will conclude that our bodies are built to run. Evolution has equipped us with the necessary tools to move and stay physically active. People who have been preaching about the cons of running are totally ignorant of this evident truth.
